Born in Essen, Germany in 1935, Albert Seidl trained as an artist in his native city at the Graphic Vocational School and Folkwang Academy of Fine Arts.

Seidl's work hangs regularly at the Ice Cream, Etc. Parlor, Jazz'd Tapas Bar, and the famous A.T. Hun Gallery in Savannah's City Market, where his paintings featuring musicians and marine scenes are one of the hottest collected works in the international market. In addition, he has had solo exhibitions in over 22 countries worldwide, including Nicaragua, Aruba, Austria and Canada.

Seidl's paintings evoke an emotional response in the viewer that says, "Take a break and remember this moment." Many find his work to be extraordinarily personal and beautifully intimate, with Savannah, Georgia, being a frequent setting for his canvases. No matter where one is from, Seidl's realism, yet impressionism, captures not only the eye, but also the soul in its simplicity and craft.

The quintessential Renaissance man, Albert is equally adept as a boat builder and designer, sculptor, furniture designer, writer and cabinetmaker.

Artist Statement

I want to be like the eternal sea, full of ever changing ideas. I don't want to be a specialist—a one-faceted technician—I want to be free in my expression in any style and media.

Art is to dwell in possibilities, to venture beyond one's self and see what lies beyond the horizon.

Art is the ability to communicate inspiration through a deep desire from the heart and soul that allows us to be born again with each creation! Art is to see shapes and colors with the innocence of a child, and translate them with skill to humanity.

Art is life, like the raindrops feeding rivers and the ever restless sea.

Now wait for the clouds to burst, let it rain!
